About My Football Sim

My Football Sim is what is known as a free online sports sim, which is short for free sports simulation game. This particular game is based around American Football - (and it's free!) - which makes it a free American Football simulation game.

Unlike fantasy football and other free football simulation games (also known as free football sims), My Football Sim allows you to create your own free football simulation leagues and customize them exactly how you want.

My Football Sim is a browser-based simulated football game (or, text-based simulated football game), which means that all you need to play the game is a relatively modern web browser.

The game is currently in Beta testing, so you may come across the occasional bug. If you do, please feel free to submit a bug report in the forums.

About the Development Team

"Kentontrace" - Game Developer, Forum Administrator

Hailing from the Buckeye state (Ohio), Kentontrace was one of the original forum moderators from when the game was known as "Unreal Football". After many dedicated hours spent in the chat room and on the forums, Kentontrace distinguished himself as someone who had a passion for American football simulation games. When asked to jump on-board, learn PHP, and help with some of the coding, Kentontrace took the ball like any good quarterback would and accepted the challenge.

During the downtime of the site (from when it was when offline from "Token League Football" until the rebirth of "My Football Sim"), Kentontrace still had his eye on the prize of creating the best football sim game in the world. With the wheels turning, he's come up with an idea for an extremely in-depth simulation engine that may very well change the way people view American football simulation games forever, and he's very excited that he might be able to bring his ideas to the forefront sooner than expected.

"Jul" - Founder, Game Developer, Forum Administrator

Originally from the United States of America, Jul moved to England in 2001 and started working for a small independent games company in Wakefield, who specialized in football (soccer) management games. His first assignment was to create a web-based interface for the company's flagship product, FootballdotManager (FdM).

Having never done any web programming in the past, Jul quickly taught himself PHP and fell in love with simulated football games along the way. In his spare time, Jul began working on his own American Football simulation game, mostly using it as a playground to experiment with new programming techniques. However, in early 2005, Jul decided to publish his American Football sim to the Internet and make it available to the general public.

The name of that game was "Unreal Football (UF)".

Unreal Football was received very well in the first few days of going live, and in a little over a week the game had over 200 registered users. However, once the game was being played regularly by hundreds of people, it quickly became apparent that the game needed a lot of work. It was also obvious very early on that the game would need a significant financial investment in order to cover the various expenses associated with running a free online game. So... Jul did what many other independent game developers do... He worked 20 hours a day to squash as many bugs as possible and dug deep into his own pockets in order to fund the game he created.

Things were going great until one day, Jul received an email from a major games company, threatening to take legal action against him for trademark infringement for using the name "Unreal Football". Needless to say, Jul changed the name of the game to "Token League Football (TLF)" and introduced pay-to-play leagues in an effort to reduce the costs of running the game. The money from this new business model went a long way towards keeping the game online. However, in the end, it just wasn't enough. So in March 2007, Jul reluctantly took the game offline.

But true love never dies, and 18 months later, Jul resurrected the game under yet another name... My Football Sim.
